Faction, Organization & Government Roleplay Rules

This policy applies to official factions, criminal organizations, government offices, businesses with staff structures, and other management-recognized groups.

Leadership responsibility

Leaders are responsible for maintaining standards, training members, managing access, and correcting misconduct. A leader who ignores repeated abuse may be removed even when they did not personally commit every violation.

Internal rules may be stricter than the community rulebook, but they cannot override management policy or grant powers unsupported by the server.

Recruitment and rank progression

Recruitment, promotions, demotions, and dismissals should be supported by roleplay and documented through the appropriate faction systems. OOC friendships, donations, or staff status must not guarantee rank.

Leaders may set activity expectations, but should allow reasonable notice before removing members for inactivity unless access presents an immediate risk.

Duty equipment and faction assets

Faction weapons, vehicles, uniforms, databases, radios, storage, and funds exist for authorized faction purposes. Members may not transfer them to alternate characters, personal businesses, criminal groups, or friends.

Equipment must be returned or secured when leaving duty where the system and faction policy require it.

Abuse of authority

Government and public-safety characters must have a valid in-character basis for searches, arrests, seizures, licensing decisions, discipline, and use of force. A command being available does not make every use reasonable.

Players may portray flawed or corrupt officials only within management-approved boundaries. Corruption cannot be used to distribute faction equipment, erase records without consequence, target players OOC, or sabotage the faction.

Information security

MDC data, private reports, staff discussions, faction channels, applicant information, and restricted records may only be used by authorized characters for legitimate in-character purposes.

OOC access does not automatically grant a character knowledge. Screenshots or copied records shared outside their intended audience may result in faction and community discipline.

Alternate characters

A player may not use multiple characters to influence the same faction dispute, investigation, election, organization conflict, or criminal operation. Information, money, vehicles, weapons, and relationships cannot be passed between alts without legitimate independent roleplay and staff approval where required.

Management may restrict a player from holding conflicting sensitive positions across characters.

Criminal organizations

Criminal groups should develop identity, territory, relationships, and internal conflict through roleplay. They may not exist solely to farm drugs, weapons, robberies, or shootouts.

Group violence requires escalation and a continuing in-character basis. Declaring a blanket war does not authorize unrestricted killing. Attacks must still consider location, witnesses, character knowledge, and the involvement of uninvolved players.

Faction conflict

OOC hostility between factions is prohibited. Complaints about another group's conduct belong in leadership discussion or the report system—not public arguments, Discord callouts, or retaliatory roleplay.

Leaders should communicate when a system issue, misunderstanding, or large planned scene could otherwise create avoidable conflict.

Government and court roleplay

Laws, policies, hearings, and official decisions must be published or communicated through recognized channels. Government roleplay cannot invent unlimited powers after an incident occurs.

Courts may resolve in-character disputes, but cannot overturn OOC administrative decisions or punish a player outside their character.

Inactivity and closure

Management may place an inactive group under review, appoint interim leadership, restrict assets, or close the faction. Group property remains part of the server economy and is not automatically owned by the departing leader.
